The position is responsible for overseeing clinical consultation activities related to behavioral health needs of children involved with Child Welfare, including psychiatric instability, trauma-related conditions, developmental concerns, and substance use.

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.
Job Duties:
Provides advanced behavioral health consultation and second-line clinical oversight for high-risk and complex cases. Plans and directs behavioral health nursing services across assigned regions, including review of psychiatric evaluations, treatment plans, and medication regimens.
Provides direct and functional supervision of Behavioral Health Nurses and related staff.
Assigns and reviews work, supports case triage and workload distribution, and evaluates staff performance to ensure quality and consistency of services.
Serves as the operational liaison between DCFS and the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), including the Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), as well as Managed Care Organizations and behavioral health providers
Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and clinical protocols and is responsible for implementation and interpretation within behavioral health nursing operations.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a job appointment that may last up to 48 months.
Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
Compensation: This position has a SER: (Level- MS-519) -SER Biweekly-$3129.60
Work Location: Baton Rouge, LaLouisiana HB 420 requires all prospective DCFS employees to complete and clear multiple background clearances prior to employment with this agency.
Active Louisiana RN license (or compact/multi-state license recognized by Louisiana) is required and must be maintained. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required due to travel across multiple regions.
