- The Clinical Director of Ophthalmology is responsible for the overall operation and supervision of the Ophthalmology department. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. The following is a list of duties but is not limited to the following: Attend required Clinical Director meetings with the Chief of Surgical Service Expected to issue and complete performance appraisals and perform competency evaluations. Maintain an up-to-date schedule which provides appropriate coverage in the Ophthalmology clinics and Inpatient coverage. Responsible for the oversight of all aspects of medical care delivered to patients under their care. During scheduled tour hours, the incumbent will be available for all urgent assessments and interventions as part of the Urology consult service care team. Participate in various hospital committees, Surgical Service and hospital in-service programs, and education programs of the Surgical Service and the hospital. Assist with the enforcement of VA TMS and BLS requirements pertaining to staff physicians and mid-level providers. Engage in continuous quality improvement by participating in the VA peer review process Responsible for graduate and undergraduate medical education and scientific research, as appropriate Assign work to personnel and responsible for (day to day) time and attendance recordkeeping Clinical Duties: The incumbent is expected to remain privileged and practicing in their specialty field. The exact privileges and procedures for a particular provider will be approved by the Professional Standards Board. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
