Kettles VA Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) - for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) aligned under Inpatient Nursing Service for Medical/Surgical and Critical Care .Night: 7:30 pm - 8:00 am x 6 and 11:30 pm - 8:00 am x 1 alternate weekends and holidays Preferred Experience:1-2 years ICU experience

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Demonstrate proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.Duties Include, but are not limited to: Assists in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization. Provides competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. Provides direct care for acutely/critically ill patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems, regardless of the setting for nursing care. Provides high intensity care and vigilance while refining assessment skills and blending in data obtained from a variety of invasive/noninvasive monitoring technology. Validates understanding of the rationale for care processes and decisions. Demonstrates knowledge base of the nursing process in the care of assigned patients. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Demonstrates the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities. Demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, integrating theoretical concepts, critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice.
