Seeking a Registered Nurse (Assistant Nurse Manager) of Gastroenterology Section: Endoscopy Lab and Gastroenterology clinics to collaborate with the Nurse Manager and execute position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care.

• The Assistant Nurse Manager reports to the Nurse Manager and works collaboratively with the Nurse Manager of Gastroenterology Section- Endoscopy lab and Gastroenterology Clinic. The incumbent has shared responsibility for the overall administrative management of the area. The position requires flexibility and may have to provide direct care in endoscopy lab and clinic with travel between the endoscopy lab located at the Main facility and clinics located at the Ambulatory Care Center. The position will perform delegated duties, such as develop time schedules, complete performance evaluations, and initiate/recommend disciplinary actions, responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, creates a positive work environment which enhances care delivery and professional development of clinically competent staff. The ANM will execute position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. The ANM is accountable for adhering to established policies, exemplifying high-quality standards of care, utilizing evidence-based nursing practice standards, and for demonstrating leadership and accomplishments when providing patient care. The ANM assists in the development and implementation of programs to improve the delivery of patient care. Provides an environment that fosters employees to perform to their full individual potential, promotes a culture of staff empowerment and transformational leadership. The incumbent demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management. Serves as a resource and role model to the staff. Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving and collaborative skills in a high stress environment. Promotes, creates, demonstrates, and ensure a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected. Works cooperatively with union leadership and will adhere to EEO principles. The ANM will make sound fiscal decisions when requesting supplies, approving time off, and authorizing overtime in compliance with unit and hospital financial goals. The ANM assumes role in coverage of staffing needs and may be acting as the Nurse Manager during his/her absence. Specific responsibilities of practice include planning, administering, and directing nursing care to adult and geriatric patients. The ANM assists in supervision and provides oversight for staffing, providing input on staff performance, and hiring actions. He/she must be poised and articulate in communicating with people of varied educational levels and varied ethnic backgrounds. The ANM works closely to ensure sufficient staff employ safe, competent, quality, and experienced nursing skills to coordinate multifaceted care within the realms of Professional Practice Standards and VA policy. Other duties may be assigned in support of the facility's mission. PLEASE NOTE: These positions require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications. If selected, Applicants will provide proof of current certifications prior to employment. Only BLS certification which included Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and ACLS certification obtained from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Military Treatment Training Network (MTN) will be accepted. Required Qualifications: Current RN license BSN required; MSN Preferred Minimum 3 years-RN experience Leadership experience (charge nurse or equivalent) BLS and ACLS completed through the American Heart Association are required Preferred Experience: Ambulatory/ Outpatient/ Specialty Clinic Experience preferred GI Clinic experience GI Endoscopy Lab experience Minimum of two years of inpatient medical surgical experience Experience with QI methodologies (PDSA, Lean, RCA, Peer Review) Quality Improvement Projects Experience/Committee involvement Core Competencies Clinical expertise in direct patient care Leadership and team coordination Effective communication Critical thinking and decision making Coaching and staff development Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care Work Schedule: Full time, Monday- Friday, 07:30am- 4:00pm.
