The Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse, will provides direct care to our Veteran patients in the ED setting to include: performing triage, treatment initiation, and outcome evaluation.

VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Duties of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) include, but are not limited to: Assessing, planning, coordinating, evaluating, and delegating the delivery of skilled patient care. Providing comprehensive emergency care to stable and critically ill patients. Exercising excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to be a strong team member. Providing patient education. Using critical thinking skills in making decisions regarding patient care, which includes knowledge and integration of relevant standards, resources, and data. Operating specialized medical equipment such as defibrillator, LUCAS, electrocardiogram, oxygen flowmeter, IV pump, bladder scanner, etc. Initiating a patient's plan of care based on assessment and provider's orders. Having continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families/significant others, community agencies, patient care staff, and management. Having and maintaining current ACLS certification and be an active member of the facility code team. Utilizing correct personal protective equipment (PPE) when providing care for patients with suspected infectious diseases.
