The Registered Nurse Quality and Patient Safety Manager, Supervisor works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to manage and implement patient safety policies, activities, and the National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) based on current standards. The Quality and Patient Safety Manager, Supervisor is responsible for ensuring facilitation of strong and safe clinical processes across VANTHCS.

  • Registered Nurse(Quality and Patient Safety Manager, Supervisor) engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Typical duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost effective outcomes. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures(SOP). Responsibility includes the utilization of general clinical nursing skills and knowledge and implementation of the VHA National Center for Patient Safety program requirements. Leads initiatives to improve Veteran/patient experience, satisfaction and/or safety beyond the immediate practice setting.
