This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. • Major Duties and Responsibilities to include but not be limited to: Performs basic medical/physical, psychological, and social patient care nursing assessments. Demonstrates skills in managing acute psychiatric patients in the Emergency Room and Acute Care settings. Provides direct nursing care to patients with psychiatric conditions. Strong ability to function independently as well as with team members. Works effectively and cooperatively with all levels of nursing. Must be an effective team player. Conducts in-depth patient care conferences with the interdisciplinary team if needed. Assists in management of consult orders including receiving, scheduling, and closing consults in a timely fashion. Knowledge of the actions and effects of commonly used psychotropic medications. Administers medications and readily identifies adverse effects of medication.
