The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Rehabilitation and Extended Care - Integrated Clinical Community. This role supports individualized, patient-centered care for veterans with complex health needs across acute, sub-acute, and long-term rehabilitation settings.
- Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but not limited to: Provide direct care for veterans with acute, chronic, and rehabilitation needs under RN supervision. Observe and document subtle changes in patient condition, reporting deviations promptly. Assist with nursing procedures such as tracheostomy care, catheterization, colostomy care, and skin care. Monitor and document patient intake and output, referring deviations to healthcare staff. Participate in treatment planning meetings and provide patient information to the care team. Promote patient independence and respect through individualized treatment and group activities. Recognize and react to emergent situations, initiating basic life support as needed. Utilize equipment to promote veteran self-care and participate in unit-based activities. Work Schedule: Intermittent. Intermittent employment is defined as non-fulltime employment in which employees serve under an excepted or competitive service appointment without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. A position with an intermittent work schedule is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty cannot be regularly scheduled in advance.
