  • As a Paralegal Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Under the supervision of the Section Chief or Deputy Section Chiefs, support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of the General Counsel Natural Resources Section (GCNR) to research environmental laws, such as the Oil Pollution Act (OPA), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and the National Marine Sanctuaries Act (NMSA), to assist with environmental claim development and litigation. Collaborate with cross-functional legal and technical staff and partner Federal agencies, State agencies, and Tribes to assist in solutions and strategies for pursuing environmental claims and litigation. Conduct legal, legislative, regulatory, and/or factual research in order to become thoroughly familiar with the subject matter details of a case or legal matter, prepare reports, or determine the need for additional information. Assist GC attorneys with litigation, such as trial research, preparation, and presentation; drafting pleadings and discovery responses; preparing affidavits; gathering and organizing administrative records. NOTE: These duties are described at the full performance level of the GS-12; the GS-11 is developmental leading to such performance.
