• The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
• Practices and applies federal immigration law in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities and policies in support of USCIS’s efforts to uphold national security and maintain integrity in the processing of immigration benefits.
• Coordinates with Department of Justice on case strategy, drafts/reviews motions, briefs, pleadings, and declarations, coordinates/supports the discovery process, and prepares agency witnesses for hearings/trials.
• Subject matters include, among others, the applicability of inadmissibility and deportability grounds, naturalization eligibility, the full range of immigration benefits under the INA, and the handling of national security and public safety concerns.
• Provides training to USCIS personnel on varied legal topics arising under the Immigration and Nationality Act, and its implementing regulations, relating to eligibility for immigration benefits and the adjudicatory process.
