This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base, NDAA 1125 (a) and (c) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Responsible for operation of locomotives on Tooele Army Depot ranging in size from 60-120 tons to pull a variety of cars and cargo.
- Operate one or more types of locomotives ranging in size from 60-120 tons.
- Operate 2-1/2 to 5-ton flatbed truck or other transporter truck to transport supplies and materials.
- Operate large forklift (capacity over 10,000 pounds) to move, load, stack and unstack palletized or crated materials and unboxed materials such as tracks, engines, transmissions, wheels, etc.
- Inspect railroad track at Tooele Army Depot at intervals mandated by governing regulations by walking or moving along in vehicle on the track at a speed which is slow enough to visually detect defects.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on railroads and appurtenances to achieve higher user benefits, increase maintenance and repair cost effectiveness, and develop a systematic approach to maintenance and repair.
