Bunzl Distribution runs its North American supply operation from St. Louis, and calls itself the largest division of Bunzl plc, the international distribution and outsourcing group headquartered in London. The American business owns and operates more than 190 warehouses serving all 50 states and Puerto Rico, plus Canada, the Caribbean, and parts of Mexico, and it employs upwards of 8,000 people.

The product is other companies' shelf stock and back rooms: outsourced food packaging, disposable supplies, and cleaning and safety products, a catalog the company puts at more than 400,000 supply items. Customers are food processors, supermarkets, non-food retailers, convenience stores, and similar operations, and worldwide sales run in excess of $12 billion. What that means on the ground is warehouse work at scale. A distributor with this footprint hires steadily for the picking, staging, shipping, and driving that keeps grocery and food-processing customers stocked, along with the sales and corporate functions concentrated at the St. Louis headquarters. Bunzl plc in London stands behind the paychecks, but the everyday employer is the American distribution network, organized around its Grocery, Food Processor, Convenience Store, and Retail divisions. The warehouses are where the headcount lives, and where most of the hiring points.
