The City of Sioux Falls runs Fire Rescue, the Police Department, a municipal Health Department, Siouxland Libraries, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Planning and Development Services, Human Relations, and an Innovation and Technology office, all of it directly, all of it city payroll. An elected mayor serves as the executive, and an eight-member City Council, five chosen by district and three at large, forms the legislative side.
