KION Group is younger than anything it owns. The group was assembled in 2006, but Dematic dates to 1819, when it was Mechanische Werkstaetten Harkort & Co.; Linde Material Handling began in 1904 as Gueldner Motoren-Gesellschaft; STILL was founded in Hamburg in 1920. From Frankfurt, KION makes forklift trucks, warehouse equipment, and warehouse automation, with Linde and STILL covering the premium end, Baoli the economy segment, Fenwick in France, and OM in India. More than 42,000 people worked there in the 2025 financial year, on revenue of roughly 11.3 billion euros.
KION builds machines and the software that runs them, which splits the hiring cleanly. Plants such as Jinan in China and Kolbaskowo in Poland want production and assembly people; the service networks reaching more than 100 countries want field technicians; and the automation side wants engineers and developers, concentrated at places like the Antwerp automation center, where staff from 40 nations design, test, and build the systems.
