The Army was the first service to create cyber career fields for civilians as well as soldiers, and a pilot program is now directly commissioning civilians as Cyberspace Operations Officers. ARCYBER is the supporting Army headquarters under United States Cyber Command, operating and defending Army networks and delivering cyberspace effects around the clock. Fort Gordon, Georgia holds the command headquarters; Fort Huachuca, Arizona holds the Network Enterprise Technology Command.
Three verbs organize the work: operate, defend, and attack. NETCOM configures, operates, and sustains the Army's share of the department's information network; the Cyber Protection Brigade hunts adversaries inside it; the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade and the 11th Cyber Battalion carry the offensive side.
