Warren County (NC) careers

NCpedia, the encyclopedia the Library of North Carolina publishes, compresses a lot of Warren County into a few lines: formed in 1779 from the now-vanished Bute County, seated at Warrenton the same year, both named for Joseph Warren, the revolutionary patriot and physician killed at Bunker Hill. The county sits on the Virginia line in the state's northeastern Piedmont, early plantation country that produced many of North Carolina's first political leaders. Today's county government runs its services from that same 1779 seat at Warrenton.
