Westervelt manages more than 500,000 acres of forest, and it got started in paper: the South Bend Paper Company opened in South Bend, Indiana, in 1884. The Gulf States Paper name arrived in 1929, the first pine plantation went in at Bibb County, Alabama, in 1956, and the paper name came off in 2006.
