Tractor Operator (Motor Vehicle Operator)

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Gateway Hills Golf course on Lackland Airforce Base. This is a flexible position with guaranteed 00 hours per week. May work up to 40 hours per week. Scheduled as needed. Employees appointed to a flexible category position are not eligible for benefits. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to frequently stoop, bend, reach and climb.

• Operates field-type tractors with attachments to maintain the grasses at the golf course. Operates a variety of equipment to include but not limited to the following: mowers, aerators, plows, harrows, clippers, sprayers, disks, post hole diggers, moveable dozer, blades, backhoe, and other equipment ranging from small handheld applicators to tractor drawn liquid and solid dispensers. Makes all adjustments to equipment to ensure proper settings, connections, and mechanical soundness of equipment. Observes all safety rules and regulations pertaining to vehicle operation. Performs operator maintenance on field-type tractors and related equipment. Carries a variety of materials on truck such as soil, tree trunks, and limbs, cuttings, water and etc. Drives truck throughout base and to/from the Golf Course. Operates such driving controls as brake pedals, clutch pedal, gear shift lever and accelerator. Must apply knowledge of the trucks turning and braking capacity, load limits, and clearance. Performs operator maintenance, such as checking and replenishing fluids to proper levels, examining and changing filters, changing and sharpening blades, lubricating equipment, and making necessary adjustments. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
