Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical, complex and/or specialized support duties related to support a variety of Human Resources functions. Provides internal and external communications/information to the general public and employees regarding personnel information and services. Provides support and assistance to professional and technical personnel staff as assigned.

Assists departments with Neogov. Assists departments with personnel requisitions in application system. Assists in hiring process by coordinating job posting on the website. Prepares and distributes job announcements to departments. Prepares a variety of professional correspondence to employees and applicants.  Prepares new and revised job descriptions and files appropriately. Assists applicants as needed regarding application process. Performs all staffing related tasks in a timely manner. Handles temporary employment requests for departments. Requests temporary staffing positions as needed by departments and works as the liaison with temporary staffing agency.


Requests background verifications on new hires. Assists new hires to schedule physicals and provide information about the hiring process. Performs verification requests of employment. Performs updates to employee records in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) as needed. 


Serves as backup or provides assistance for other Human Resources personnel during vacations, lunch, and absences. 


May assist with County wide trainings. May assist with other trainings necessary or requested across the County.


Assists other Human Resources department personnel with special projects as needed and performs other related duties as assigned.  

Knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws, ordinances, statutes, and regulations relating to Human Resources.  
Knowledge of Hamilton County policies and procedures. 
Knowledge of standard office practices and principles.
Skill in reading, interpreting, understanding and applying departmental and Hamilton County policies and procedures.
Skill in PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook and be proficient in data entry.
Skill in the use of personal computer and related software.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Skill in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Ability to edit and proofread.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality while working in the Human Resources environment.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field and a valid driver’s license is required.


OR


An Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field plus two (2) years of direct work experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, Customer Service, or a closely related field. A valid driver’s license is required.


OR


The equivalent of a high school diploma and four (4) years of direct work experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, Customer Service, or a closely related field. A valid driver’s license is required.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  


Previous work experience in a Human Resources Department is preferred but not required. 


Experience working in a staffing position is preferred but not required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Work involves a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, walking, and driving. May require lifting up to 25lbs. on occasion. 


Excessive keyboarding may be required.
