The Nursing Informatics, Quality and Staffing Operations Coordinator will be working at the Veterans Affairs Health Care System/Nursing, Acute Care Facility located in Beckley West Virginia. ***This position is for Facility Employees of this Beckley VA Medical Center only***

  • The Nursing Informatics, Quality and Staffing Operations Coordinator Registered Nurse (RN) exercises leadership in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating hardware and software applications integrated with the electronic health record (EHR) and associated programs. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, program leaders, and service leaders at the facility and network, establishing effective relationships with all levels of VA staff nationwide. The RN is responsible for documented outcomes at the program or service level, demonstrating broad, complex performance and leadership that benefit the facility. This role serves as a key member in delivering and improving processes related to nursing Informatics, Quality, and Staffing Operations by using nursing practice, clinical knowledge, and data to guide system development and efficient workflow design. The RN utilizes clinical knowledge, skills, and abilities to impact nursing practice for all stakeholders and develops strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include analyzing nursing trends and data to support nursing practice strategies, proactively collaborating with nursing leadership, and demonstrating competence through critical thinking, deliberate planning, and the ability to manage competing priorities while coaching and mentoring others. Core functions include managing clinical systems for operational efficiency, developing clinical practices related to information systems, deploying EHR upgrades, and managing innovations in hardware and software. The RN monitors trends in clinical practice and healthcare informatics, participates in improvement initiatives and committees, collaborates with National and VISN consultants, and oversees equipment procurement and lifespan. Additional responsibilities include facilitating patient flow through effective coordination of patient movement, environmental services support, bed priority management, and managing the Bed Management System and overall patient flow.
