This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
- VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4 Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse who reports to the Nurse Manger, this practical nurse will initiate, perform, and complete assigned duties including implementing orders and providing care to variable patient populations. - Provides specialized practical nursing care in outpatient Mental Health clinics under general supervision. - Incorporates patient assessment data into treatment planning and supports development and modification of individualized care plans. - Recognizes and documents subtle changes in mental status, behavior, and physical condition, and promptly reports findings requiring provider intervention. - Uses practical knowledge of human behavior, motivations and reactions to situations in working effectively with patients, family and other staff members. - Observes, identifies and responds to the patients needs for nursing, medication, and equipment assisted care and recognizes deviations from normal. - Assists RN and providers in prioritizing care needs, adjusting care plans, and coordinating follow-up based on patient response. - Administers prescribed medications and treatments accurately, including monitoring for and responding to early adverse reactions. - Identifies urgent or emergent behavioral health concerns and immediately engages appropriate clinical staff, RN or APN, to ensure patient safety. - Communicates effectively with patients and families experiencing behavioral, emotional, cognitive, or motivational challenges, promoting treatment adherence and wellness. - Serves as a resource to clinic staff, assisting with complex outpatient workflows and supporting unlicensed personnel in safe care delivery. - Participates in process improvement, patient experience initiatives, and development of educational materials while consistently applying customer service standards. - Actively seeks ongoing education and contributes to the professional development of peers in outpatient Mental Health services. Learn more Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
