This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program , a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Johnson VA Hospital is recruiting for a full-time Physician for a vacancy in Geriatrics within Service-line of Geriatrics and Extended Care. Previous experience in Geriatrics is highly desirable. Physician must be Geriatric Medicine Fellowship trained and board certified or board eligible for Geriatrics. Geriatrician Physician will be assigned to the Geriatrics ACE (Acute Care for the Elderly) service and provide consultations/evaluations and care for inpatients with a variety of Geriatric conditions in the setting of inpatient care units. Geriatrician will be assigned to provide care for Veterans in Outpatient Geriatric Clinics-to include ACE follow up, GIVE (Geriatric Interdisciplinary Veteran's Evaluation) Clinic and will assist in expansion of Geriatrics outpatient clinics. Provides oversight to Medical University of South Carolina medical trainees rotating with service. Job Requirements/Clinical Functions: Responds to ACE unit inpatient Geriatrics Care consults within appropriate timeframes. Applies the accepted protocols for assessment and treatment of various Geriatric Diseases/Conditions. Serves as a subject matter expert regarding geriatrics; leads and promotes educational initiatives and teaching sessions to train and educate primary care and specialty staff. Participates in developing and conducting quality improvement projects within the facility. Provides Geriatrics follow up visits and consultations in outpatient clinics. Attends and participates in hospital committee meetings and initiatives related to specialty such as delegated by leadership/service line chief. There may be a need for intermittent coverage of aspects of the Geriatrics Service in times of need. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:30am - 4:00pm (Subject to change based on agency needs).
