The incumbent serves as the Assistant Chief of Ambulatory Care Operations Executive at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC), one of the most complex IA VA facilities in the nation with eleven associated CBOCs, affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine, and member of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center complex in the world. The Assistant Chief of Ambulatory Care Operations reports to the Deputy Chief of Staff - Operations.

• The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center serves as the primary health care provider for more than 151,000 Veterans in southeast Texas. The incumbent supervises, plans, directs, and has final decision-making authority, responsibility and accountability on issues affecting the Assistant Chief of Ambulatory Care Operations to include the eleven CBOCs and Office of Integrated Veteran Care (OIVC). The position is responsible for clinical, administrative, and programmatic oversight. The incumbent serves as a clinical resource on all policies, procedures, and issues. The incumbent participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health care systems, network, and national level initiatives. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): May be approved Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Some of the other responsibilities are: -Directs all clinical and administrative activities -Participates in top management discussions, decisions, policy making, and provides program direction to other executives, managers and assigned personnel -Directs budget/fiscal management, human resources management, strategic planning, and program management and evaluation -Establishes clinical objectives congruent with and reflective of the philosophy and objectives -Develops long-range and short-term goals and programs required to meet stated objectives -Develops program evaluation methodology and processes -Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of existing programs -Collaborates with operations and program managers to ensure integrated goals and priorities -Responsible for successful performance, specifically with regard to customer satisfaction, quality of services provided and efficiency of service delivery -Board-certified MD/DO with extensive clinical leadership experience Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
