This position is located at a Service Unit within the Indian Health Service (IHS) health care facility, service unit, or hospital.   • Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating systems; inspects components (compressors, filters, ducts, etc.), cleans or replaces parts, and reports major issues to HVAC mechanics. Maintains and repairs water and waste systems, clears drains, replaces pipes and fixtures, installs pumps and valves, insulates water lines, and tests plumbing systems after repairs. Builds and repairs basic structures such as framing, partitions, shelves, doors, and windows; measures and cuts materials; installs and adjusts components; and fabricates simple sheet-metal items. Repairs and installs basic electrical wiring, fixtures, switches, outlets, and breakers; identifies faults using simple testing tools and refers complex problems to electricians. Sets concrete forms, mixes and pours concrete for sidewalks and slabs, performs surface repairs, and conducts basic brick, block, and stone masonry work. Uses a computerized maintenance system to manage work orders, performs painting and surface prep, operates snow removal equipment, maintains landscaping, and assists with moving supplies.
