This position is a Supervisory Fish and Wildlife Biologist, GS-0401-13 working for the R8-Southern Nevada Fish and Wildlife Office. This position may be filled in either Carlsbad, CA or Palm Springs, CA. Pay will vary based on duty location for which you're selected. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
- Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Analyzes the impacts of residential and commercial development, mining, military training, water conveyance, energy and transmission development, transportation, recreation, and other land uses and plans on listed, at-risk, and sensitive species under the Endangered Species Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, and Sikes Act. Develops conservation partnerships to aid in the planning, funding, and implementation of recovery projects and initiatives for the benefit of listed species. Effectively negotiates conservation outcomes through a variety of regulatory and non-regulatory pathways that aid in recovery of listed species. Develops and communicates conservation priorities to a division of biologists and ensures appropriate management of workload and efficient use of agency resources and staff time in achieving those priorities and meeting regulatory requirements. Develops and tracks budgets for reimbursable funding, ensures appropriate coding of hours to funding codes for division staff, and ensures the division appropriately oversees funding grants and agreements. Works effectively as part of the office's management team to help in setting priorities, providing input on decisions, and communicating and implementing office decisions within their division. Conducts performance reviews, supports employee development and training, and conducts hiring actions.
