The Veterans Affairs Receptionist provides administrative and customer service support to the Veterans Affairs Office. This position serves as the first point of contact for veterans and visitors by coordinating appointments, maintaining records, scheduling transportation services, processing documentation, and providing assistance to veterans, volunteers, and partner agencies. The Receptionist helps ensure veterans receive timely access to benefits, healthcare services, and other available resources.

· Greet visitors and answer incoming telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner.

· Schedule appointments for veterans.

· Maintain accurate electronic and paper records.

· Enter and update veteran information in department databases.

· Prepare, copy, scan, fax, and file documents.

· Coordinate transportation services for veterans, including scheduling rides and appointments on the county veterans' van.

· Prepare monthly volunteer driver schedules and transportation reports.

· Order prescription medications for eligible veterans when authorized.

· Assist veterans with contacting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Regional Office, Pension Management Center, Dorn VA Medical Center, Rock Hill VA Clinic, and other agencies.

· Receive, review, and process forms, correspondence, reports, and other documents.

· Follow applicable federal, state, county, and Veterans Affairs policies and procedures.

· Operate standard office equipment, including computers, scanners, copiers, printers, telephones, and fax machines.

· Utilize Microsoft Office applications and Veterans Affairs software to maintain records and prepare reports.

· Provide excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

· Prepare Obituary List

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

· High school diploma or GED required.
· One year of administrative, clerical, receptionist, or customer service experience preferred.
· An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
· Must be State accredited with SCDVA and Nationally accredited with The American Legion within six months of hire date.
