Mental Health Professional III / 988 Supervisor (Charleston)

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center, 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd., Charleston, SC 29414. 

As the 988 supervisor, you will be responsible for training/supervising staff, overseeing daily operations (24/7/365), answering incoming crisis calls as needed, and attending meetings with stakeholders. Responsible for adhering to Vibrant/988 guidelines and expected outcomes.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional III:

• Provide quality supervision to staff to ensure quality response to callers of the 988 Lifeline. Services are delivered in a person-centered, recovery-oriented manner. 
• Provide Clinical supervision to staff to ensure quality of patient/caller centered care.
• Ensure all staff are knowledgeable of and accountable for documentation expectations and documentation is timely, collaborative, and thorough.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with patients, internal staff, and external community partners in order to facilitate linkages to services and provide quality care. Participate in meetings, supervision, and interagency staffing as needed.
• Ensure team operates in an efficient and organized manner.
• Pursue professional development through collegial consultation, supervision, continuing education, training, and licensure/certification as applicable. Maintain a required certifications and licenses.
• Comply with Corporate Compliance Policy; all State and Federal laws; all Agency, Center, and Quality Assurance standards. Helps ensure program remains AAS E accredited.

• A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.

• Licensed or meets the requirement for licensure eligibility as a LPC, LlSW-CP, or LMFT. 

Additional Requirements:

• This position is considered essential and may be called back during crisis/disasters/emergencies. 
• Must hold a valid SC Drivers License.
• Be able to lift 10 pounds.
• This position may require travel for meetings/trainings. 
• Services are provided in the office and may include the community.

• Behavioral healthcare experience.

Post hire, employees must have:

• Knowledge of counseling practices, including knowledge of psychopathology, diagnosing, and treatment of behavioral health disorders including mental illness. 
• Ability to listen and understand and effectively communicate information and ideas. 
• Some knowledge of psychopathology and patient management within the psychiatric setting. 
• Ability to effectively communicate and establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, other professionals, and community partners. 
• Some knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other public and private agencies. 
• Ability to utilize electronic health record.
