Purpose and Scope:
At SENMC we are working to provide a sustainable future for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and the Department of Energy (DOE) complex at large. To achieve our mission, we need exceptionally talented, innovative, and driven people to help us reduce risks on the WIPP Site by removing some of the most hazardous waste streams and facilities in the DOE complex. Our Training team is seeking a Temporary Radiological Control Technician Trainer to support the DOE mission by helping to meet the demand for technicians throughout the DOE system, including WIPP.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision, analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training using the systematic approach to training.
- Develop training materials such as Job-task lists, On-the-Job Training qualification cards, Qualification Standards, Classroom training materials and knowledge tests.
- Ensure compliance with DOE standards, processes, and procedures.
- Develop curriculum and training materials in a manner to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
- Develop curriculum including drafting, editing, and revising and performing comment resolution.
- Perform equipment walk downs to verify operable conditions.
- Work with functional managers, technical authorities, subject matter experts, and field workers to ensure curriculum is designed and facilitated in an appropriate manner for the training, qualification, and experience of the students.
- Ensure the level of detail prescribed in the curriculum is appropriately balanced with the training required for a Radiological Control Technician.
- Provide interface with technical authorities, functional managers, and subject matter experts.
- Other duties as assigned in response to a rapidly changing environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to accomplish organization objectives by organizing and monitoring work processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; training development software.
- Experience developing and implementing classroom applications.
- Experience with the Job Hazard Analysis process.
- Instructor or training specialist qualification related to technical/functional operations.
- Knowledge of DOE Order 426.2, "Personnel Selection, Qualification, and Training Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities."
- Excellent communication skills: keen appreciation for follow up, follow through, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and without supervision.
- Experience working in and with industry; good working knowledge of the region’s high demand industries especially as it relates to the workforce needs of employers.
- Knowledge of economic and workforce development practices, systems, and program design; knowledge of training systems.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including writing, editing, and making presentations to groups and individuals.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
