The North Florida/South Georgia VA HCS is recruiting a board-certified Critical Care Physician to join our Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting A summary of the duties is mentioned below but not limited to: Provide comprehensive critical care for surgical ICU patients, including initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management. Perform or supervise essential ICU procedures such as central line placement, arterial line insertion, intubation, and ventilator management. Develop individualized care plans in coordination with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Manage complex postoperative complications and post-op care for surgical patients. Conduct daily patient rounds and participate in multidisciplinary team discussions. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in electronic health records; communicate critical information to care teams and families. Mentor and educate residents, medical students, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals in critical care medicine. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, comply with VA standards, and adhere to infection control and safety protocols. Contribute to clinical research and scholarly activities; present and publish findings as appropriate. Provide 24/7 ICU coverage through participation in rotational on-call scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays; respond promptly to emergencies and acute care needs. Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and allied health professionals to deliver cohesive, high-quality patient care; serve as a resource within and beyond the ICU. Work Schedule: Part-time position (20 hours per week) with participation in a rotational on-call schedule to provide 24/7 ICU coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
