This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy & submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. - The inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) will work in the MedSurg Unit. This RN will be responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants. This RN will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement. Major duties include but are not limited to: Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Demonstrates the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities. Responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Performs ongoing assessments, noting changes in condition, and provides appropriate interventions. Provides IV drug infusions of various medications with nurse driven titration per protocol and procedures. Recognizes emergency situations and demonstrates effective action in emergencies. Administers medications and procedures as established in policies and guidelines. Assures detailed, current, and comprehensive documentation is contained in the patient medical record and other pertinent records. Functions independently and demonstrates the ability to assign, organize and delegate assessed needs to other member of the interdisciplinary team and peers. Influences care outcomes coordinating and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality care based on established standards, policies, and procedures.
