The incumbent will develop a vital, funded aging-related research program that includes collaborative studies with other investigators within and affiliated with GRECC consistent with the mission of VA; be responsible for ongoing clinical care and management of patients; and participate in both GRECC educational programs as well as the clinical and research teaching and training programs of the incumbent's associated department(s) at the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine.

  • Duties include but not limited to: Clinical: Be responsible for ongoing clinical care and management of patients which may include the clinical supervision and teaching of fellows, residents, and UW medical students: 1) in GRECC clinics, other specialty clinics and/or 2) in GRECC clinical demonstration clinic and/or 3) while serving as an attending physician on an inpatient teaching service. Teaching & Training: Participate in local, regional and national GRECC educational programs for VA providers and trainees; and in the clinical and research teaching and training programs of the GRECC Physician Investigator's associated department(s) at the UW School of Medicine. In addition to clinical supervision, may provide mentorship to one or more research post-doctoral trainee(s). Research: Develop and maintain a vital, funded aging-related research program that includes collaborative studies with other investigators within and affiliated with GRECC consistent with the mission of VA; produce written reports of work accomplished that are suitable for publication in appropriate scientific journals; and write research proposals of sufficient merit to be supported by VA Research Service funds or by other national granting agencies. Other: Maintain compliance with all health care system policies, rules, regulations, and by-laws is mandatory. Resident/Fellow supervision. Compliance with all mandatory VAPSHCS annual training and review modules. Contribute to GRECC National Performance Measures to meet fiscal year targets for publications, grants, and/or contributions to clinical or education programs. Participate in activities supporting the GRECC, outreach, and service on committees. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards.
