This position serves within the Military Personnel Division as senior advisor to the MILPERS Assistant Director across OSD and 11 Defense Agencies. Directs military HR operations, military reserve manning, standardizes best business practices, and develops policy to ensure mission continuity and cross-service alignment.
- Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Direct and oversee a staff of military and civilian employees, including planning and assigning work, establishing priorities, developing performance standards, and evaluating performance. Serve as an expert strategic and technical advisor to senior leadership on military reserve personnel actions, policies, and procedures, providing guidance on complex and sensitive issues. Function as the lead expert for the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW) on the Joint Officer Management program, overseeing skill code classification and ensuring compliance with joint duty requirements. Perform a full range of advisory and operational staffing and recruitment services, from advising on staffing strategies and validating vacancy announcements to managing all staffing actions from start to finish. Manage and maintain visibility over all military staffing actions, perform audits on billet requirements, and serve as the primary authority on military HR historical precedence and current procedures to ensure consistency and implement best practices.
