Nurse Aide - SCI Laurel Highlands

This position supports daily medical care by assisting inmates with personal needs, monitoring important health information, and maintaining a safe environment. The role ensures that individualized care plans are followed and completed under the direction of licensed healthcare staff. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

• Health Monitoring: Check vital signs, collect specimens, and record health information for licensed staff review
• Personal Care: Assist inmates with bathing, dressing, feeding, sleep routines, and mobility needs
• Safety Support: Provide comfort measures, help transfer inmates, and monitor skin condition and hygiene
• Unit Assistance: Escort wheelchair inmates, make beds, change linens, and maintain clean work areas
• Supply Management: Sterilize equipment, maintain inventory, and organize needed materials
• Communication Duties: Share important information with licensed staff and complete required documentation

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Eight-hour shifts include 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM), with rotating days off and a 30-minute lunch. Your work schedule is to be determined.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirement:

• This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
