Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Maintenance Department as a Maintenance Foreman who provides supervision, guidance, logistical support and limited administration to a group of heterogeneous journeyman crafts and their helpers.

The Maintenance Foreman plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients, and ensuring our facilities are maintained accordingly. Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:

Four years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.

Job Duties:

  • Determines assignments of subordinates and participates in performing a variety of maintenance duties, including but not limited to carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mobile equipment operations, ground maintenance, welding, locksmith, etc.
  • Ensures that subordinates are equipped with the proper tools, supplies, and safety equipment to perform their work.
  • Transports vehicles and equipment to vendors and ensures service is complete.
  • Checks work orders and invoices for correct information.
  • Counsels employees in work procedures problem areas, policies, and regulations.
  • Inspects buildings, grounds and equipment to determine need for various types of repairs or maintenance work.
  • Assists Facility Assistant Maintenance Manager in the coordination of work/projects with contractors, engineers, architects, department heads, etc.
  • Responds to emergency callbacks and assists with other duties assigned.

Compensation: This position has a minimum hire rate of $1,928 bi-weekly and may be eligible for on call pay.

Weekday/Nights on call pay-$2.15 hourly

Weekend/Holiday on call pay- $2.25 hourly
