James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital seeks a skilled Critical Care RN for the STAT/Acute Care Team. The nurse delivers rapid, high-intensity, evidence-based care to critically ill Veterans, using strong clinical judgment and advanced critical thinking. This role supports hospital-wide emergencies, serves as a clinical resource, promotes safety, and contributes to policy and quality improvement.

  • The STAT/Acute Care Registered Nurse provides expert, flexible, and rapid-response care for Veterans experiencing complex or life-threatening conditions. This RN demonstrates leadership, clinical expertise, and professional accountability by collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, evaluating clinical performance, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. The position requires a strong critical-care background and the ability to manage dynamic patient care situations across varied inpatient settings Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for acutely/critically ill patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life threatening health problems, regardless of the setting for nursing care. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. This nurse has vast experience and knowledge with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, skillfully integrating theoretical concepts, strong critical thinking skills, and exhibits an expert technically skilled practice. Provides high intensity care and vigilance, is considered an expert in the field of nursing and serves as a resource and mentor to others. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Serves as a change agent and collaborates with other services to produce optimal outcomes. Exudes leadership as an ICU Nurse and educates and shares knowledge with the whole hospital institution. Collaborates with team members and hospital leaders in the evaluation of nursing protocols and procedures. Responsible for participating in activities supporting nursing excellence, quality improvement and unit based and/or organizational level Shared Governance councils. Accountable for utilizing clinical expertise and evidence-based practice to find innovative approaches to address concerns to improve the quality care provided to our veterans.
