The Quality RN Consultant is a registered professional nurse who is accountable to Quality, Safety & Value (QSV) Leadership. In collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, and using nursing process and process improvement principles, the RN Consultant practices in the QSV Department by providing coordination, implementation, and evaluation QSV program goals and other quality activities within the hospital and thirteen outpatient Community Clinics as assigned.

  • Major duties include, but are not limited to: Facilitate and lead teams for key organizational initiatives related to organizational performance metrics, driving improvement initiatives from problem identification to sustainment of corrective actions. Promotes a culture of high reliability and psychological safety within the system and partners with clinical and operational leaders and staff to ensure that standards and regulatory requirements are met in an environment of continual readiness efficacy. Continually evaluates and improves processes, activities, learning, and communication within these programs. Research and design advanced development opportunities for both employees and leaders at all levels. Skilled in development of plans to measure, analyze, and report results of related data. Preparing and presenting information, formal presentations, and education, to all sizes of audiences from frontline staff to Executive and/or VISN leadership. Builds knowledge and abilities of MVAHCS staff to support and improve patient safety, Readiness, and High Reliability. Chairs and /or participates on assigned organizational committees and teams, assuring fulfillment of committee charter/functions, and acting as quality liaison. Partners with the local and regional counterparts to identify and implement best practices. Utilizes Lean principals, evidence-based practice, and other VHA-endorsed processes to promote process improvement. Audits, investigates, and responds to confidential queries from internal and external stakeholders related to quality concerns.
