Employee will be assigned to Engineering Service, VA Healthcare System, Fayetteville, AR, and is responsible for the comprehensive management of electronic systems within the main facility, Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), and catchment areas.
- ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Performs design, installation, maintenance, and administrative duties on installed electronic systems, including Nurse Call, overhead paging, Fire Alarm, Security Alarm, Access Control, Security Cameras, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Commercial Guest Wireless Internet and the Engineering Network. Plans and performs scheduled and unscheduled (emergency) maintenance on systems to ensure that they are operating properly, calibrated, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. Recommends whether systems should be removed from service, allowed to remain in service, or be restored to service. Has responsibility for the design, installation, programming and maintenance of network equipment, including routers, firewalls and switches in a multi-campus computer network. Performs routine testing and verification to ensure proper network operation. Manages, repairs and upgrades facility fiber optic cabling between all facility buildings to ensure a reliable data backbone is available to provide required network communications. Installs, maintains, repairs and upgrades operating system and software on workstations for managing and operating various infrastructure systems, including Electrical, Emergency Diesel Generators and Environmental Management systems. Drafts and submits packages for the acquisition of materials. Records and maintains files on all required documentation in the process of contract work; and provides technical input to the contracting officer during all phases of the contract. Manages the operation and maintenance of the facility fire alarm system by monitoring both the computer monitoring system and the fire alarm control panels ensuring the system operates within code. Responds to, tests, and repairs fire alarm trouble signals that are displayed on the monitoring system or the fire alarm panel. Manages the fire alarm fiber optic network, ensuring communications between fire department, boiler plant and all fire alarm control panels are operating within code. Plans, coordinates, organizes and executes maintenance and repair procedures with the customers in various services to minimize the impact on staff and patients. Creates, updates and reviews technical drawings, including blueprints, wiring diagrams and circuit schematics to ensure greater accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Provides technical advice and assistance to other services on equipment application, system replacement, system modification, system upgrade based on the needs of the service. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm and is subject to change based on the needs of the facility. Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized
