This position serves as Chief Academic Officer of the College and the SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison for the College.  This position primarily provides administrative leadership, direction and evaluation of instruction and provides guidance for strategic planning and assessment for institutional effectiveness.  
  • Serve as Chief Academic Officer of the College, managing and unifying the academic affairs function to promote a current and relevant curriculum consistent with the mission and vision of BPCC.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Executive Team; partner with the Chancellor and other Executive Team members in achieving institutional objectives identified in the College’s Strategic Plan
  • Ensure that programs and activities within academic affairs meet and exceed the requirements of the SACSCOC accreditation standards 
  • Discern, analyze, assess, and recommend the creation of new academic programs and the modification, expansion, and/or enhancement of the existing curriculum
  • Serve as liaison to the BPCC Faculty Senate
  • Direct/oversee the recruitment, development, and retention of high-quality faculty and academic staff
  • Direct/oversee academic operations at off-campus instructional sites
  • Prepare the annual budget for Academic Affairs, within the College’s strategic priorities
  • Maintain regular communication and working relationship with other areas of the College, keeping them informed of current activities and working with them to achieve institutional priorities
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for marketing and Public Relations to promote for increasing enrollment
  • Oversee application, review, and selection process for BPCC Endowed Professorships
  • Oversee faculty promotion and faculty evaluation processes
  • Facilitate grade appeals process; coordinate with Chair of Appeals Committee for review and communication of grade appeal decisions
  • Monitor activities and makes data-driven decisions in the Academic Affairs Division that meet institutional enrollment goals and instructional needs
  • Promotes student success, partnering with other Vice Chancellors
  • Oversees the preparation of the college catalog, academic calendar, course schedules, and related publications
  • Represent the faculty and appropriate staff to all constituencies, including the LCTCS, Louisiana Board of Regents, administration, students, alumni, and the public; and promote the College to all constituencies, both internal and external; represent the College in any discussions of academic collaboration with other colleges, universities, or academic organizations
  • Serve as an advisor to the Chancellor; develops, recommends and implements operating policies; and makes policy decisions as authorized; may serve as the Administrator in Charge in the absence of the Chancellor

Institutional Effectiveness Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the College’s reaffirmation efforts and work with campus offices to ensure compliance with SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation
  • Compile, present and discuss meaningful data that contributes to strategic planning and the development of policy decisions related to improvement in student success
  • Provide training to faculty, staff and administrators related to effective use of data
  • Collaborate with and advise faculty on analyzing and evaluating SLO data
  • Collaborate with others in reviewing, interpreting and determining implications of various College practices and measures of institutional effectiveness as they pertain to achieving the desired outcomes of the institution’s strategic plan
  • Provide leadership for the continuous improvement of teaching and student learning; plan, organize and implement a systematic process for supervision and evaluation of instruction and the recruitment of faculty
  • Develop strategic scheduling based on student learning needs and program patterns to encourage course and program completion
  • Provide leadership and guidance on the assessment of the instructional programs within the college.
