This position serves as the Senior Social Worker Compact Act Coordinator and Group Facilitator for the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit within the Acute Care Section of the Mental Health Service line at VA Puget Sound Health Care System, located in Seattle Washington. The Veterans COMPACT Act expands the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)'s ability to furnish and pay for treatment of eligible individuals in acute suicidal crisis.
- Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional 7West is the only VA site for inpatient psychiatric care in Western Washington and consists of 16 high-intensity psychiatric beds serving both voluntary and involuntary patients; additionally, 7West provides scheduled admissions for detoxification service and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). The major duties and responsibilities of the Senior Social Worker are as follows: COMPACT Act Coordinator for VA Puget Sound Health Care System Facilitate the implementation of the COMPACT Act by serving as the point of contact and subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders, Veterans, and their families. Provide clinical case management to Veterans actively utilizing COMPACT Act services. Evaluate implementation efforts at the facility and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) System for Quality (VISN) level, if requested. Collaborate with the VAPSCHS Director of Suicide Prevention Facilitate transitions in care for Veterans receiving acute suicide care under the COMPACT Act. Provide complex care in a highly specialized area and may be the sole practitioner in the program. Oversee daily operations of the program area and contributing to all aspects of clinical and administrative programming. Conduct comprehensive transition planning and providing clinical social work assessment, intervention, treatment, and follow-up. Possess or develop an understanding and sensitivity of the individual Veteran's needs, beliefs, and expectations of patients with various backgrounds. Primary Clinical responsibilities - 7W inpatient group programming Primary clinical responsibility is providing recovery-oriented group programming on 7W to inpatients three days a week. Coordinates admissions to acute inpatient psychiatry; including tracking open beds, pending discharges, medical/surgical patients needing transfer, outpatients needing admission and community patients needing transfer and admission. Triage, evaluate, and manage Veterans requesting mental health services in person or on the phone. Formally supervise trainees & unlicensed staff in the provision of acute mental health assessments. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
