Mental Health Professional I / Adult Clinic Services (Columbia Area MHC)

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Columbia Area Mental Health Center, (CAMHC), Adult Clinic Services, 2715 Colonial Dr, Columbia, SC 29203.

As the Mental Health Professional I, you will provide intensive case management to a diverse and challenging consumer population of adults with chronic psychiatric and co-co-occurring disorders, with the intent to prevent or minimize hospitalization and enhance community placement, under the supervision of the Program Supervisor.

Responsibilities for this Mental Health Professional I:

• Provide an array of clinical services to promote recovery, stabilization and independence on the client's needs and plane of care. 
• Document services provided and maintain clients' medical records according to CAMHC, Medicaid, quality assurance, corporate compliance, and CARF standards. Incorporate Collaborative Documentation into services provided to clients to improve client engagement and conduct timely documentation of services.
• Maintain competency in at least one Evidence-Based Practice & ensure patient functionality and services received coincide with DLA20 rating.
• Participate in team meetings with clinical staff, provide input on clients, present assessments and discuss methods of service delivery.
• Perform administrative functions including maintenance of medical records in accordance with QA standards.
• Comply with all BHDD-OMH/CAMHC policies and protocols, applicable Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance, Cultural Competence, and CARF policies,procedures and regulations and all Federal and State laws as well as attend all trainings classified as mandatory by Federal and State regulations.

• A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social science or related field.

• In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the BHDD-OMH, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post graduate clinical experience. • Have knowledge of local agencies and facilities.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Post hire, employees must: 

• Have thorough knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostics, counseling, case management and recovery.
• Have good interpersonal skills to work with patients and other agencies.
• Be able to provide services to serious, persistent mentally ill persons and the dually diagnosed.
• Be able to work with families of patients.
• Be credentialed as a Mental Health Professional.
• Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
