Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Major duties of this position include but are not limited to: Record the results of the initial history and physical examination, diagnostic tests, consultation reports, and all other aspects of the medical care of the patient during their hospitalization. Provide inpatient medical consultative services to any other services which request a consultation. Document all clinical encounters at the time of visit and record the patient's full and comprehensive history and physical within 24 hours of admission. Participate in making daily rounds on all medical inpatients every day, including weekends and holidays. Write interval progress notes at a frequency reflecting the complexity, severity, and stability of the patient's condition, but no less often than every visit with the patient. Initiate diagnostic modalities and stabilize medical therapies in the event of a medical urgency or emergency while notifying the Medicine staff, Nursing Officer of the Day, and the Transfer Coordinator. Maintain and revise, as appropriate, all medical aspects of the care plan, including overall goals for management of all medical problems and specification of the methods by which goals will be attained. Seek necessary consultation as dictated by the patient's underlying diagnosis and condition. Build and sustain collaborative relationships and work to resolve conflicts at the lowest possible level. Participate in quality improvement/quality assurance activities for the assigned work area and service or service line. All other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Flexible; tour of duty is flexible and will be discussed with the supervisor upon selection.
