About the Position: This position is within Directorate of Mental Health Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program, Naval Medical Center and Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego CA. Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Advanced Leave Accrual MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Advanced In-Hire MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
- Exercise a broad range of professional knowledge and independently performs assessments, diagnosis of substance disorders, addictive disorders, and psychiatric disorders in accordance with the Psychiatric Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM).
- Determine the patient' type and level of treatment based on American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Guidelines and community standards. Plans for and provides treatment services for co-occurring disorders.
- Establish rapport, systematically gather data, determine the readiness of the individual for treatment and change, and apply accepted criteria for diagnosis of substance use disorders.
- Screens for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptom
- Exercises a broad range of concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relevant to the substance abuse program and addiction medicine outpatient program to conduct comprehensive substance abuse treatment of patients.
