The Education Nurse Manager will guide, develop, and support educators from a leadership perspective, using professional standards of care, scientific evidence, and practice to evaluate programs and/or service activities. The Nurse Manager will develop short- and long-range plans for the education department; develop and implement programs and program changes that impact the ability to meet the medical center's needs; and develop innovative/creative programs.
- The Nurse Manager position is in the Nursing Service at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital & Clinics Healthcare System in Tampa, FL. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week. Included but not limited to: Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Demonstrates sound decision-making and judgment and possesses excellent interpersonal skills. They are self-directed and influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and implementing cutting-edge, evidence-based programs/processes. The NM maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work; considering the difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of subordinates. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Hearing and resolving complaints of subordinates and referring more serious complaints not resolved to higher-level supervisors. Identifies developmental and training needs of subordinates and provides or makes provision for such development and training. Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to subordinate personnel on work and administrative matters. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Program- or service-level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility. Additionally, responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, interviewing applicants, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards.
