The Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed. The NM is responsible for the direction & supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, & evaluation of individual staff performance. They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
- About the Position: The Bath NY VA Medical Center Nurse Manager - Community Living Center is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other Nurse Managers as needed. The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. The Nurse Manager functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care in the Community Living Center. The Nurse Manager has the 24-hour responsibilities for clinical and administrative aspects of patient care within those areas. The employee will work in the area(s) assigned by their supervisor. Potential areas include but are not limited to sterile processing service/reusable medical equipment, inpatient care areas, primary/specialty outpatient clinics, mental health, medical service, or surgical service. The area assigned may be modified as needed to meet organizational needs Duties: Job duties are focused on disease prevention and achieving optimum mental and physical health and well-being. Expands knowledge base and practice evaluation through mentoring, precepting, and/or teaching to improve outcomes in the immediate practice setting. Equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organizations vision and mission. Maintains training required and may be assigned additional duties as area needs require. Leads education initiatives to expand knowledge with improved outcomes in the immediate practice setting. Demonstrates expertise in evidence-based practice/research resulting in improved outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting. Demonstrates expertise in managing resources that contribute to efficient, cost-effective care and, sharing knowledge beyond the immediate practice setting. Demonstrates expertise in performance improvement by leading initiatives and sharing outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting. Demonstrates expertise by integrating patient preferences into care delivery decisions and sharing knowledge and outcomes with peers beyond the immediate practice setting.
