DeBakey VA Medical Center and is seeking an outstanding Physician with a focus on Headaches. Essential duties of this position include but are not limited to performing initial histories and physical examinations; screening outpatients to determine the need for further Neurological Care. He/she/they will provide comprehensive Neurological Care to Veterans with neurology conditions like Stroke, Epilepsy, Neuro Muscular Diseases, Headache, Movement Disorders, Cognitive Disorders. Assessing the needs and planning intervention for adult eligible patients and their families. 2. Facilitating the delivery of care as expected from a headache subspecialist and a general Neurologist. 3. Performing initial histories and physical examinations 4. Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, CT scans, MRIs, PET scans, EEGs, EMGs and other electrodiagnostic tests. 5. Performing and supervising lumbar punctures, performing and supervising Botulinum toxin injections and nerve blocks, as needed. 6. Assisting individuals/families to achieve optimal levels of health through collaboration with medical and health care professionals. 7. Exercising medical decision-making and provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. 8. Exhibiting leadership in initiating changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from research and/or studies. 9. Participation in education of PA students, Nurse Practitioner, Fellows, Residents, and Medical Students. 10. Consistent demonstration of expertise in diagnosing and treating seriously ill multi-symptomatic patients. 11. Initiating and expediting requests for consultations and scheduling special tests and studies. 12. Proficiency in other components of patient management such as charting, progress notes, signatures, and preparation of consults. 13. Basic proficiency with a computer and willingness to learn neurological disorders clinical management and procedures, including use of electronic templates. 14. Participation in NCL's various structured educational programs including noon lecture series, patient/caregiver education conferences, patient/ caregiver educational newsletters, community educational initiatives etc. 15. Initiate specialty specific research project/s and support/participate in current research initiatives.
