This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. - This position functions in Pharmacy Service to support timely access to quality health care for our Veterans at the Michael E DeBakey Medical Center outpatient setting. Duties include but are not limited to: Knowledge of professional pharmacy practice. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to both patients and health care staff. Knowledge of laws, regulations, and accreditation standards related to the distribution and control of scheduled and non-scheduled drugs and pharmacy security. Conduct ongoing and annual performance evaluations of direct reports. Counsel employees on performance when necessary and/or recognize high level performance as appropriate. Work with the Associate Chief of Pharmacy and Chief of Pharmacy on the facility's clinic and CPP utilization metrics by reporting weekly updates and improving outcomes. Interview applicants for vacancies, determine their suitability for the position, and make recommendations to the Associate Chief and Chief of Pharmacy. Provide advice, counsel, or instructions to subordinate employees on both work and administrative matters. This includes hearing and resolving employee complaints or grievances and referring to more serious complaints that are not resolved to the appropriate channels. Develops performance standards, performance plans, and evaluations; ensures that Pharmacy staff and the programs under their scope are compliant with all applicable regulatory and accrediting body requirements. Gathers statistical information and prepares periodic reports on assigned pharmacy programs. Provides justification for budgetary, personnel, equipment and space requirements. The incumbent will prepare other special data and reports as required. Ensure compliance with all Joint Commission, VACO, union contract, EEO regulations, and local standards and guidelines as well as federal and state laws as staffing and resources permit. Keeping direct reports informed of pertinent information by conducting regularly scheduled PACT CPP meeting and keeping the Associate Chief of Pharmacy always informed. Collect and interpret data to design, recommend, implement, monitor, and modify patient-specific pharmacotherapy in collaboration with patients and other health care professionals to optimize drug therapy. Responsible for the professional and administrative management of pharmacy staff and associated clinical pharmacy programs, including helping the Associate Chief and Chief with budgetary execution. Collect and interpret data to design, recommend, implement, monitor, and modify patient-specific pharmacotherapy in collaboration with patients and other health care professionals to optimize drug therapy. Assist the Associate Chief of Pharmacy and Chief of Pharmacy in developing and maintaining a cooperative working relationship with other departments such that the overall activities and scope of Pharmacy services tendered are carried out efficiently. Program planning and evaluation for short- and long-range clinical goals to ensure these goals are consistent with existing resources and necessary functions and programs within the Pharmacy Service.
