  • You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic (Utilities) and be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and repairs, and replacement projects in the areas of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Installing, modifying, repairing, trouble shooting (tracing and locating defects), loading and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, electrical wiring, controls and equipment. Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and underground water distribution mains and systems, water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, sewage disposal stations Making repairs to HVAC systems in residential and commercial units, to include small and domestic natural gas and oil fired heating units and systems, hot air furnaces, low-pressure hot water and steam boilers, refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems, controls and circulators. Performing minor carpentry repairs to the interior and exterior of buildings and structures.
