This position is at the full performance level, located in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, at the Loma Linda VA Medical Center in the Surgical Service Department. The Clinical Administrative Specialist position is within Surgical Service, including; Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Oncology, Gynecology, and Plastic Surgery. The incumbent provides administrative and clinic coordination support across all Surgical Service clinics.

  • Duties include, but not limited to: Provide necessary and vital management and leadership in the complex setting of Surgical Service Clinic areas Establish and maintain an effective working relationship within the service Work with multidisciplinary groups to include physicians, technicians, clerical staff, trainees, pharmacy, ITS, FMS, OR and SPS Coordinate clinic activities with other sections and services to ensure the accomplishment of the work in a timely and efficient manner High level of independence and responsibility to lead a complex clinic in day-to-day operations Consults, advises and educates all levels of employees on methods and means to make health care operations more effective and efficient Integrates knowledge of clinical and information processes to achieve successful adoption, application, and/or integration of new technologies to support health care operations and systems within the Service line Develops and/or oversees the development of information related to patient care, such as patient registries to allow the Clinical Team to track management of patient illnesses; and develops performance management tracking tools Maintains knowledge of changes in technology within the clinical environment to identify, propose, formulate and support new or revised administrative and clinical policies and directives for clinical software packages in accordance with VHA regulations Personnel management and supervision include strategic planning, organizing, coordination, implementing and directing work, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, evaluating work performance, counseling and disciplinary actions, orientation of new staff and trainees Assist the Service Chief with the development and implementation of policies and procedures Promotes collaborative working relationships, creative problem solving and flexibility amongst the staff Use sound judgment in decision-making that focuses on meeting and improving customer service Maintain purchase card records, reconcile transactions, and ensure compliance with procurement regulations when serving as a purchase cardholder Performs other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0800-1630 PST Telework: This position may be authorized for telework.
