This position is located in the Central Sterile Reprocessing Department of the Gallup Indian Medical Center. The purpose is to provide reprocessing of medical-surgical instruments, trays, etc. (decontamination and sterilization) for the inpatient units, outpatient clinics and the surgical suites. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

  • Rotate among the various duty assignments within the central sterile reprocessing department. Assignments include but not limited to decontamination; instrument preparation, including trays; equipment maintenance; removing damaged and non-usable instruments; issuing clean equipment and sterile trays. Wash the washers and sterilizer per policy. Decontaminate the full range of reusable medical supplies and equipment used within the hospital's units and clinics. Prepare the full range of trays and sets used on the units and in the clinics of the facility. Determine that all instruments function properly. Periodically tests operation of equipment for effectiveness of sterilization per manufacturer's and standards. Sterilize instruments, equipment, utensils, linen, and supplies various types of autoclaves and aerators. Disassemble and clean equipment such as suction machines, healing/coping machines, infusion pumps, etc. using approved disinfectants, detergents, and cleaners.
