The Oncology/Hematology Registered Nurse delivers knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- Duties may include but not limited to: Possesses foundational expertise, demonstrating introductory proficiency in delivering both direct and indirect nursing care to oncology patients and their families. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to achieve desired patient outcomes. Completes basic physiological assessments and completes documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance to established policies and procedures. Monitors, tracks, and reports ongoing care needs and outcomes to the interdisciplinary team. Seeks guidance on how to improve care provided to patients and families. Provides a safe work environment while administering, handling, and disposing of antineoplastic drugs and medical waste. Focuses on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self direction.
